For service businesses on Google Local Services Ads

Google now charges you for the calls you miss.

On Local Services Ads, a missed call during your business hours turns into a paid lead once the caller hangs on past 20 seconds. Voicemail counts too. We set up and run your Local Services Ads, then make sure every call, text, and booking request gets answered. All in accounts you own.

The same answer-every-lead system we run our own business on. Built on GoHighLevel, in your name, so you see cost per booked job, not just cost per lead.

The problem

The phone rings while you're up on a roof. It rolls to voicemail.

Google still bills you for that lead. Voicemail counts as connected.

Miss enough of them and your ranking slips. The next company on the list books the job you paid for.

$0
Paid to Google every year for calls nobody answered.

Plus about $0 in jobs those callers booked somewhere else, at a conservative 25% close rate.

Google bills a missed call during your business hours once the caller stays on the line past 20 seconds. Your real cost per lead is in your Local Services dashboard.

Pain points, problems, fixes

Where Local Services Ads money leaks.

We see the same seven leaks over and over. Each card shows what it feels like, why it happens, and how we fix it.

Leak 01 · Missed calls

You're paying for calls nobody answered.

Why it happens

Google bills a missed call during business hours once the caller stays on past 20 seconds. Voicemail and auto greetings count as connected calls. Every call you can't grab on a job is money out with no job in.

The fix

An AI receptionist picks up every call in your business name, day or night. It books the job or takes the details and texts you a summary. You pay for that call either way. This way you get the job too.

Leak 02 · Ranking

Your ad stopped showing up and nobody told you why.

Why it happens

Google ranks Local Services Ads on things like how close you are, your reviews, how fast you respond, your business hours, and complaints. Slow replies and missed calls push you down, no matter what you spend.

The fix

Instant answers on calls and messages keep your responsiveness high. We set business hours to match when someone can actually pick up, and we watch your ranking every week.

Leak 03 · Junk leads

Bad leads cost money and you can't dispute them.

Why it happens

The old dispute button is gone. Google re-checks charged leads on its own over about 30 days and credits the ones it decides are invalid. Set your job types and service area too wide and you pay for calls about work you don't even do.

The fix

We tighten your job types and service area so the wrong calls stop coming in. Every lead gets rated in your dashboard each week so Google hears about the bad ones, and call recordings stay on file.

Leak 04 · Follow up

Leads come in and fall through the cracks.

Why it happens

Local Services leads live in Google's dashboard, away from your texts and your calendar. The ones that didn't book never hear from you again. And nobody can say which leads turned into paying jobs.

The fix

Calls ring through a number in your CRM, so every one gets answered, recorded, and logged. People who didn't book get follow-up texts. Every lead gets tied to the job it became, so you finally know your cost per booked job.

Leak 05 · Reviews

Your competitor has 300 reviews. You have 40.

Why it happens

Your star rating and review count help decide where you show up. Asking customers when you remember gets you a trickle.

The fix

A review request goes out after every paid job, automatically. Your crew hands over tap-to-review cards on site, right when the customer is happiest.

Leak 06 · Verification

Verification has said pending for weeks.

Why it happens

To run, you need the Google Verified badge, which replaced Google Guaranteed in October 2025. Depending on your trade, that means license, insurance, and background checks, and every detail has to match your business info. One mismatch and it stalls.

The fix

We run the setup and walk you through every check. Your name, license, insurance, and Google profile get matched everywhere, so verification goes through and stays clean.

Leak 07 · The rules

Google keeps changing the rules.

Why it happens

The Google Guaranteed badge and its money-back promise went away in 2025. In 2026 missed calls became billable, and Google started moving Local Services Ads into Google Ads as a Performance Max campaign that still charges per lead. Your old LSA reports may not make the move with you.

The fix

We keep up with Google's changes and adjust your setup when they land. Your lead history gets exported before your account moves, and the new setup runs inside a Google Ads account in your name.

Straight answers

What people ask before they buy.

Does Google really charge for calls I miss?
Yes. It's in Google's own lead rules. During your business hours, a missed call becomes a billable lead once the caller stays on the line past 20 seconds. Calls that hit voicemail or an automated greeting count as connected too. If you have a phone menu, the 20 seconds start after the caller presses a key.
What happened to the Google Guaranteed badge?
It's gone. In October 2025 Google swapped Google Guaranteed, Google Screened, and License Verified for one badge: Google Verified. The money-back guarantee went with it. The checks are still real, though. Depending on your trade, that means license, insurance, and background screening.
Can I still dispute bad leads?
Not the old way. Google re-checks charged leads on its own and credits the ones it decides are invalid. Your levers now are rating every lead in the dashboard and keeping your job types and service area tight, so the wrong calls never come in.
Is ad spend included?
No. Management covers the setup, the weekly work, and the reporting. Your ad spend goes straight from your card to Google, inside your own account, so you see every charge.
Local Services Ads or regular Google Ads?
Local Services Ads charge per lead and sit at the very top of the page for service businesses that qualify. Search ads charge per click and give you more control over keywords. Plenty of businesses run both. Bring your trade and your market to the call and we'll tell you which one fits.
Do I have to use the AI receptionist?
No. If you or your office already picks up every call fast, keep doing that. Most owners are on a job when the phone rings, and that's who it's for. You're paying for that call either way. It might as well book.
What if I want to run it myself someday?
Good. Teaching is half of what we do. Everything runs in your accounts from day one, so when you're ready we hand you the SOP and the keys. There's nothing to migrate and nobody holding your account hostage.

You're already paying for the call. Make it book.
