Host Your WordPress Site Inside HighLevel, Next to Your CRM

Host Your WordPress Site Inside HighLevel, Next to Your CRM

Key Takeaways

Most Bay Area owners we talk to have a WordPress site somebody else built. It sits on one host, the CRM sits somewhere else, and the contact form emails a mailbox nobody checks at 7pm. Andrew from HighLevel's Content Army walked through how to activate, import, build and manage WordPress sites inside HighLevel. As a GHL consultant in the Bay Area, we care about one thing in that video: the site and the follow-up finally live in the same account, and that account is yours.

Turn WordPress on in your sub-account

Inside the sub-account, go to Sites, then WordPress, and click Activate WordPress. That runs the purchase flow for WordPress access on that sub-account. Once it is paid for, the first site shows up under WordPress Sites, usually marked pending setup.

Open the site and the first thing at the top is a Quick Start Guide. It lists every step in order: create or import the site, log into the WordPress admin, add your domain, turn on activity logs, add users, and look at analytics. It tracks which steps are done, so you always know where you are.

Move an existing site over

This is the part most owners need. Scroll down the info page to Import Your Existing Site. Two options: do it yourself with HighLevel's plugin, or ask their migration specialists to handle it.

The do-it-yourself route works like this:

  1. Download the LC Migrator plugin from the HighLevel info page. It saves to your computer.
  2. Log into your current WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins, Add Plugin, then Upload Plugin, and pick the file you just downloaded. Click Install Now.
  3. LC Migrator appears in the left menu. Open it, sign in with your HighLevel login, pick the sub-account, and click Continue.
  4. Select the website, acknowledge the prompt, and click Start Migration.

When it finishes, the site is sitting in a new WordPress admin inside HighLevel. Back in the sub-account, the WP Admin button in the top right opens it. LC Migrator is a different plugin from the LeadConnector app you will use later for forms and calendars.

Importing an existing WordPress site into HighLevel with the LC Migrator plugin

Or start a site from scratch

No site yet? When you first create the WordPress site, HighLevel offers three starts: blank, copy an existing site, or pick from its template library. From there you build pages the normal WordPress way, under Pages and Add Page.

The WordPress section inside HighLevel adds two shortcuts. You can upload HTML pages you already have, and you can click AI Generated Pages to have HighLevel write a page and drop it straight into WordPress.

Put it on your domain and lock it down

A new site sits on a default WordPress address until you add your own domain. On the info screen, click Add Domain, type the domain, and choose Auto Configure or Add Manually. Either way you end up adding DNS records and letting HighLevel provision the SSL certificate. Then the site is live on your name.

Two settings that get skipped and should not be:

HighLevel WordPress hosting analytics showing site traffic, uptime and visitor reports

See if the site is actually working

The Analytics tab reports traffic, response codes (how many requests succeed and how many error out), data transfer and CDN usage, down to the last 30 minutes. The Visitors report shows access logs, countries, devices and IP addresses. There is an uptime monitor you can switch on, and a Performance report that measures speed when you click Fetch Report.

Because this is real WordPress, you keep plugins, themes and backups. Install HighLevel's LeadConnector plugin first. It puts native HighLevel calendars and forms onto WordPress pages without pasting code, so the booking link on your site writes straight into the CRM that texts the lead back.

Why This Matters for Bay Area and San Jose Businesses

Here is the pattern we see from Los Gatos to San Jose. The website was built by a cousin, or by an agency that stopped answering. It runs on a hosting plan the owner has no login for. The contact form sends an email, the email lands at night, and the lead has called a competitor by morning. The CRM never hears about the form at all.

Hosting WordPress inside HighLevel closes that gap without throwing the site away. The pages you paid for come across with the migrator. The form becomes a HighLevel form, so the submission creates a contact and can fire a text back in under a minute. The calendar on the site is the same calendar your follow-up automation books into. And everything, site and CRM, sits in one sub-account you own. If you ever stop working with us, you keep the logins, the domain and the data. That is the deal we offer every client as a GHL consultant in the Bay Area, and this feature makes it cleaner.

Practical Steps

  1. Find your WordPress login and your domain registrar login. If you do not have them, that is the first problem to fix.
  2. Activate WordPress under Sites in your HighLevel sub-account and open the Quick Start Guide.
  3. Run the LC Migrator plugin from your old WordPress admin, or request the migration specialist.
  4. Add your domain, set the DNS records, and confirm SSL is provisioned before you switch anything off at the old host.
  5. Enable activity logs and add your team with the smallest role that still lets them do their job.
  6. Install the LeadConnector plugin and replace the old contact form with a HighLevel form tied to a missed-lead text.
  7. Turn on uptime monitoring and check Analytics once a week.

Final thoughts

You do not have to rebuild a site to stop losing leads from it.
